The Kendo Martial Art dates back to the late nineteenth century and has its origins in Japan, Kendo is a martial art where the use of the bamboo sword or shinai is practiced.
Kendo promotes values such as the importance of effort, perseverance, respect and self-improvement, it is considered a perfect way to improve society by instilling these values.
In the case of kendo, there are six basic grades or kyū (the sixth kyū being the lowest and the first kyū the highest) and eight intermediate and advanced grades or dan, with the first dan or shodan being the lowest and the highest that can be reached through examinations being the eighth dan or hachidan.
